About the program

McKamy Orchestra has a longstanding tradition of excellence. Led under the baton of Ms. Cynthia Shockley for the last seventeen years, the orchestra program grew exponentially during her tenure. The program welcomes its new Director of Orchestras, Molly Wang, for the upcoming academic year 2022-2023.

 Today, the orchestra program features over 120 orchestra students on violin, viola, cello, and bass. It is the only middle school orchestra program in Lewisville ISD that offers harp lessons as a secondary instrument. The ensembles consistently receive Superior and Excellent ratings at UIL Concert & Sightreading, Solo and Ensemble, and Peak Music Festival.  Members within the ensembles successfully audition for the competitive All-Region Concert & Clinic. With four distinct ensembles in the program, there is a place for any student at every level.
