Do I need to buy a concert uniform?

All students will wear a concert uniform, but not everyone must purchase a new one every year. All Beginners will wear the Orchestra T-shirt as their uniform. Students in Symphonic, Philharmonic, and Chamber wear a formal uniform. If the formal uniform fits from the previous year, there is no need to purchase a new uniform. If you do not have a formal uniform or have outgrown yours from a previous year, you will need to purchase a formal uniform. More details on the concert uniform can be found here.

Do I need to buy an Orchestra T-Shirt?

Orchestra T-shirts must be purchased by all students and ordered through the booster club. Beginner Orchestra students wear the T-shirt for all concerts. The T-shirts are also used for Orchestra spirit days and field trips. Parents/staff are welcome to purchase an orchestra T-shirt as well for use on field trips or to support the program.

The Activity Fee, T-Shirts, and Uniforms can all be purchased through the Booster Club. Please note that pants and shoes are NOT included with the uniform.

What is the Cello/Bass District Fee?

This is a separate fee for the use of a school cello or bass. This fee covers everyday wear and tear maintenance on the instruments, repair of minor dings and scratches, accidental broken strings, and bow rehairs. This is a required usage fee by LISD. A separate form will go home with all students who use a school instrument in September, to be paid by cash or check, made out to LISD.

What if I am experiencing financial hardship?

If you are experiencing financial hardship, please send Mrs. Wang an email at wangm@lisd.net. Money should never deter any student from participating in Orchestra. There are funds set aside for families who need financial assistance.

Formal Uniform Sizing Guide

Tuxedo Shirt

How to measure: Wrap measuring tape around the neck base, leaving a finger-width room in the measurement. Then measure from the base of the neck, over the shoulder, and down the length of the arm to the wrist. It is better to be a bit roomy in the sleeve, than tight on the neck. All measurements in inches.

Formal Dress

How to measure: Measure around the fullest part of the bust, keeping the tape parallel to the floor. The dress is very stretchy and loose around the waist and hips. Most dresses will need to be hemmed to prevent dragging. Try to avoid cutting fabric when hemming, but rather fold up the fabric and sew.
