About the program

McKamy Orchestra has a longstanding tradition of excellence. Led under the baton of Ms. Cynthia Shockley for seventeen years, the orchestra program grew exponentially during her tenure. Molly Wang took over the program in 2022. 

 Today, the orchestra program features over 120 orchestra students on violin, viola, cello, and bass. It is the only middle school orchestra program in Lewisville ISD that offers harp lessons as a secondary instrument. The ensembles consistently receive Superior and Excellent ratings at UIL Concert & Sightreading, Solo and Ensemble, and Spring Music Festival.  In 2022 and 2023 McKamy Orchestra had the highest number of students successfully placed into the competitive All-Region Orchestra.
